Lauren Findlow is a marketing major and the president of the UA chapter of Delta Sigma Pi.

I became involved in Delta Sigma Pi my freshman year at the University of Arizona. I knew that I wanted to surround myself with individuals who were much like myself – motivated to succeed in business. Our motto in Delta Sigma Pi has always been “what you put into this organization is what you’re going to get out.” This has definitely been true for me as I have been a member of many committees, served as the Vice President of Career Showcase and this year as the President. This organization in culmination with my other extra-curricular involvements has helped to shape me into the person that I am today and has all contributed towards my Eller experience. I truly love being part of an organization that inspires you to become a better student leader. I have high aspirations for our chapter and hope to bring many more national awards back to Eller.

The Gamma Psi chapter has been working very hard to continue building our brand both within the Eller College of Management and on a national level within our fraternity. Our chapter was awarded the Most Outstanding Collegiate Chapter for our accomplishments in the 2012-2013 academic year, which is the highest honor that any collegiate chapter can hope to win. To keep the momentum going we had a very strong line-up of events in the 2013-2014 school year. We organized a campus-wide event where we brought a Delta Sigma Pi alum and inspirational speaker to Eller, we also started two unique charity events “The Eller Charity Cup” and “Dodging Balls for Cancer” and created corporate partnerships with five companies: Macy’s, Inc., Verizon Wireless, Edward Jones, TekSystems, and GoDaddy.

Our events, partnerships, and hard work during the 2013-2014 academic year greatly contributed towards the awards won at our provincial conference in November. Regionally, our chapter was awarded the Chapter of Excellence for our Chapter Management Program, Outstanding Financial Operations, Outstanding Professional Activities, Outstanding Alumni Relations, and the Outstanding Chapter. We were also recognized as the Collegiate Chapter with the Largest Attendance at the conference. Provincially and nationally we won for Outstanding Alumni Relations and Outstanding Financial Operations. We have now won five national awards in the last two years. This couldn’t have been done without last year’s Eboard, specifically: Nate Schlatter (president), Sarah Laus (VP of alumni relations) and Anthony Hauseman (VP of finance).

This fall we have continued coordinating and gaining sponsorships for events such as the Eller Charity Cup and the Eller Open. The Eller Charity Cup is our flag football tournament that we put on each fall. We partnered with Alpha Kappa Psi and had 14 teams registered to play and together we were able to raise over $1,100 towards cancer research. Our chapter plans to donate these funds in our late brother’s name: Jack Cilek was a vibrant individual in our chapter who battled cancer for 10 months. His humor, smile, and inspiration will long live on in our chapter and his presence will never be forgotten. The Eller Open is our annual golf tournament and was open to both Eller students and recruiters. Following the round of golf was a networking lunch and silent auction for both students and employers to enjoy. We had record-breaking attendance and hope to make this event even larger next fall!
