This year, the University of Arizona was identified as one of the top 100 “Best Value Colleges” by USA Today and the Princeton Review. The review highlighted Eller’s undergraduate degree programs in MIS and accounting, and dedicated special attention to the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, which it called the “crown jewel” of the “colossal” UA, explaining that students “can learn how to be a swashbuckling business maven here, and people (including undergraduate students) at UA have come up with and implemented ideas and inventions that will blow your mind.” 

“It is terrific to be counted among the best of this great institution,” says McGuire Center director Sherry Hoskinson. “We are proud to be ‘crown jewel’ — and we aim to move up from there.” 

With an economy that is less than ideal for upcoming graduates, the McGuire Center offers students a skill set that differentiates them from other job-seeking candidates, incomparable to any other institution.

“Entrepreneurship and innovation are at the forefront of the nation and this generation,” Hoskinson says. “The McGuire Center is committed to development of the talent force that will fuel the innovation movement.” 

The USA Today accolade follows on the heels of the latest U.S. News and World Report ranking, which places the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship at #2 among public institutions; the Center has consistently been recognized among the top five programs in the country, across publications.

The latest recognition comes from an annual review to identify the top 100 “Best Value Colleges” by the Princeton Review in collaboration with USA Today. This list considers both public and private institutions nationwide, and is determined based on data compiled and analyzed by the educational test-preparation service, the Princeton Review. The Review selected schools based on surveys collected from students and professors across more than 650 campuses nationwide. In addition, three main areas of criteria were used to evaluate the “value” of each college or university, including academics, cost, and financial aid. Over 30 factors contributed to each category, creating a systematic approach to assess the universities and colleges for the 2009-2010 academic year.
